teacher appreciation day

So today is National Teacher Appreciation Day. I got some tape, envelopes and candy from our PTSA this morning. I'm always fishing around for envelopes and some kids took my tape yesterday and didn't return it, so I was very appreciative. Chipotle in the Atlanta area is also giving teachers free food today. I appreciate that as well.

Here are some other things I appreciate about being a teacher:
  • summer (13 days and counting!)
  • frequent sources of laughter (aka teenagers)
  • being paid to read
  • new challenges every day... never a dull moment
  • seeing teenagers grow and mature from 9th grade to senior year (it's true, they really do!)
  • being forced to keep up with new technology to avoid looking like that teacher you always laughed at in school

this (above) was probably a good way of looking at it, but...doesn't this day mean people are supposed to appreciate you?
