some good music

First off, I am rather sad that I will be out of town for the Gillian Welch concert Friday night at the Variety. I hear she's amazing in concert and I have never had the good fortune to see her live.

Reading someone's year end posts on the year's music a few months ago, they listed their favorite music in terms of how long it took them to get tired of a CD rather than as a top ten list. This idea has stuck in my head since then. I bought a bunch of new music on iTunes before I headed home for Christmas. Of my purchases, there are two CDs that I have listened to over and over and over again for the last eight weeks... Shawn Mullins' 9th Ward Pickin' Parlor and The Weepies' Say I am You. And by over and over again, I mean sitting on my red couch reading for 3 hours with one or the other of them set on repeat countless times in the last 2 months.

And, if you haven't heard Katy Bowser's music, you need to give it a listen.

...i confess i have been an initiator in such an activity. I like the measuring of a cd by how long you can listen to it like that. Say I am You is doing better than any other cd for a long time for me.
