Curling
Most of my friends are off playing in the mountains or have their parents in town, while I am home sick. This affords me the opportunity to watch lots of... CURLING. I was first introduced to curling during the 2002 Olympics while I was visiting Jenny in Clemson. But now, as I lie in front of the TV, it is the only thing on that interests me. I haven't got it totally figured out, but it is a lot more interesting and complicated than I originally thought. I'm not sure I would qualify it as a sport, but it certainly involves a lot of strategy. Seems to be a combination between shuffleboard and bocce ball, on ice. And it is endless. Matches seem to take close to 2 hours. What I still can't figure out is what those brooms they use really do. I can't see how they really speed up or slow down the rock, or cause it to curl.My big question, though, is how did this ever become a sport? There are some bizarrely complicated sports that I can understand how they evolved into sports. Basketball, hockey, downhill skiing, these things make sense to have evolved from people being bored and creating a game. Whoever came up with curling must have been SUPER-bored!

hope you're starting to feel better, courtney-love!
I concur.
If you have any light to shed on the rules or strategy, do tell.
