amazement
It never ceases to amaze me how 14 and 15 year olds, known for being "hard," rarely on time for class, oft suspended, reticent to learn anything a teacher considers important, possibly involved in gang activity, and certainly ready for 3:15 on May 26, will settle down, converse quietly and respectfully, write complete paragraphs, and generally be engaged in learning for an hour, if given colored paper, scissors, glue, and markers.
