We left Mount Rushmore and headed in the general direction of Custer, SD. On the way we stopped by the Crazy Horse Memorial, another large monument, blasted out of stone. However, the Crazy Horse is nowhere near finished and costs $20 to enter, so we turned around and headed for Custer.Custer is a cute Wild West town, not an overdone, touristy place like Keystone. We grabbed a cup of coffee at a coffee shop located in a 100+ year old bank building and then strolled around town, visiting a used book store specializing in western books and seeing the first building ever built in Custer, an old cabin. The most ex
citing part of Custer for me were the buffalo. Just like the Cow Parade that visited Atlanta in 2003, Custer had large, painted fiberglass buffalo all around downtown.
