BPA
With all the talk lately about the
toxic effects of BPA, I've come to a difficult decision. I'm giving up my Nalgene bottles. It's not so much the bottles themselves, but the loss of the stickers I've collected on them over the years that saddens me. So Kate and I are going to create a shrine for the Nalgene bottles in the kitchen (probably incorporate it into the wine bottle collection...) And today, Kate went to REI and bought
new water bottles for each of us that are BPA-free. I'm not that far ahead of the game though, as Nalgene has announced it will
no longer manufacture bottles using BPA. Interestingly enough, all of that sort of Nalgene were on sale for $5 at REI. Even so, it's going to take me years for these new bottles to be as beat up as the old ones and years to collect stickers from my travels to cover them.
