Boston
I flew into Newark on July 12 where Kate picked me up, brought me to her parents' home for lunch where I met almost all of the remainder of her family I had not yet met, and fed me. Her car was packed and ready to go except for loading up our bikes. Around 2, we hopped in the car and headed for Boston. Somerville, specifically, to stay with my friend from high school (and cousin a kajillion times removed) Brandi. Our first Boston experience was a rotary. Now, I've heard of the Rotary Club, even had lunch with a student who won an essay contest there, but a rotary in the road? Why can't you call it a traffic circle or a round-a-bout like everyone else? And this particular rotary was huge and the roads stemming from it were not particularly well marked. Not to mention we were there about 6pm, at the height of traffic. The guy behind us was honking mercilessly and then wound up pulling up next to us at the next stoplight. He was so angry and unhappy. This, of course, caused me to burst into laughter which only irritated him further.
Brandi took us into Cambridge that night for dinner. We found the office of Dewey, Cheatham, and Howe on Harvard Square, MA and strolled around Harvard's campus.
