dreams of slugs

This post is gonna be boring.

So I missed Sufjan Stevens at the Fox on Wednesday. I was pretty sad about it, except that I was asleep LONG before it ended. I did, however, get to see the Indigo Girls play a short set at Criminal Records in Little 5 on Friday night. That was uber-exciting.

Saturday: scratch and dent at REI with Kate, Jeremy, and Brent. Good times. Got myself a used backpack and a headlamp. Now I REALLY want to go camping again. Then I went out of town to scope out a pastor. Had some pumpkin ale on Saturday night. I really want the Dogfish Head, but I had to settle for another sort that I don't even remember now.

Today, it poured. After taking MARTA back from the airport, I drove my car for the first time all weekend to the grocery store. One of my students bagged my groceries. Its fun to run into them in random places like that. Now maybe they will believe that I don't sleep on a cot in my classroom.

I've realized that I am totally overwhelmed by my life and worn out. I miss my friends. Maybe if I saw them more often, I would have more energy since I am an extrovert. Kate and I sat on the porch and drank beer. That made me feel a little better. Until the slugs came. I hate slugs and really any large quantity of icky animal (think all those nasty scenes in the Indiana Jones movies, especially whatever it is on the bottom of the train cars). This is the stuff of my nightmares. I guess the rain brought them, but there were SO MANY crawling all over the porch and I was so grossed out. Even the thought of pouring salt on them was not enough to overcome my deep disgust. I do not anticipate sleeping well tonight.

You're reading lost in the cosmos? Did I recommend that?

You did in fact. Almost bought it when you were here, and you did not believe that I would come back and purchase it later. But I did. Mainly to prove you wrong.

I linked to your blog from BTM, whose blog I found through some other PCA guy in B'ham. All this enforces my theory that PCA'ers are way too tight - even their blogs are linked :-)

I also remember not believing that you would send me $10.

So, what do you think of it?

Ken- Personne n'aime les slugs.

Bethany, I think I have more random connections with you than anyone else!

And, Mr. Prufrock, why would I send you $10? I can't send you anything anyway, including your book and CD, since you won't give me your address.

Why would you send me $10? Because I don't believe that you will. It worked for lost in the cosmos.

Address:
The floors of silent seas

(isn't that clever?)

And, what do you think of the book?
